Go-Pro Wedding

With its system of straps, mounts, small form factor, and lightweight design, it truly is the ideal camera to capture those candid moments of the big day. Professional photographers and videographers have been adding the GoPro to their creative arsenal.
Over the last  two years, I have been exploring the consumer point-of-view (POV) camera to: record videos of first dances while I do still photography; set up timeless beach ceremonies; and even mounting them in aerial advantage points for timed wide-angle shots as I work. I offer couples the GoPro time-lapse & video options during consultations, but here just a few uses you may find useful if you already own a GoPro.
Pass-n-Go
Couples love seeing their guests entertained as they look back on the big day. Photo booths are, of course, popular as are the instant Polaroids and Fuji cameras but here are some ways to use GoPro. During the reception, place the GoPro on one of the accessory adjustable poles. Next simply hit the record button while passing it to the guest explaining it is recording. Kindly ask that guess capture their POV and when they are ready, pass it to the next guest. Have each guest pass it around by either word of mouth or have the DJ make a brief announcement. The battery can record for about two hours, and combined with a 64GB memory card, the memories it captures are priceless as it goes from hand to hand throughout the day. I highly recommend a stabilizer(which I use ) for silky smooth video with a cinematic big budget effect. The stabilizer can be purchased at B&H Photo for about $225.
Wedding Time Lapse
The GoPro camera excels at easy setting up of wedding time-lapses with a unique creative look of the entire day. What is a time-lapse? A time-lapse video is actually a serious of photographs taken in intervals over an extended period of time. Setting a GoPro camera to take one picture every second results in over 3500 images in an hour. The images are then rendered together sequentially into video form to make a short clips. The video is set to show 30 images progressing – giving backgrounds such as clouds fluid movement. You can capture your vendors setting up and decorating your ceremony site and wedding venue.  Of course you can slow the video or speed it up suiting your creative tastes. For instance, if you set the camera at a high advantage point, such as a balcony, you will have a bird’s eye view of the whole day unfold in just a matter of minutes. You may also add individual shots for your photo album that may have been missed by still photos.
It does take time to render the video depending on you computer system as well as color correcting images. Hiring a professional wedding photographer would eliminate a lot of time as it can be a bit technical and tedious.

Ceremony Video Recording
The GoPro can go anywhere! It is so small, it may even be placed in the flowers on an arbor, unseen, to record a close up video of the bride and groom exchanging vows.
The Chesty Strap
For the ultimate POV using a GoPro, have a groomsmen put on the Chesty Strap, a lightweight harness that holds the GoPro wedding camera. It can be easily hidden under a tie for that up close and personal recording of the guys getting ready and escorting guests to their seats.
Man’s Best Friend in your Bridal Party
Attaching the GoPro to your favorite canine lets you capture a truly remarkable view as guests oohs and ahs over your best four-legged friend trotting down the aisle waiting to give that slobbery kiss. to edit.
